MARKET Deeping man Roy Carson has sent in these pictures of his trip to Venezuela.
The pictures include one of him showing a copy of the Mercury to Yanomami Amazonian indians at El Dorado and getting into a helicopter for a flight over areas of rainforest which he says have been left devastated by illegal gold miners.
Mr Carons says the picture from the air shows the devastation as illegal miners search for gold in pools of mud washed by powerful pumps to glean nuggets from the subsoil.
He says it causes massive devastation since the miners first cut or burn huge sections of the rainforest to get at the gold-bearing top-soil.
Another picture shows Victoria Carson at El Dorado and another pictures Roy and Victoria with Arawak indian chieftain Daniel during a visit to his encampment.
