Venezuela considers to rejoin the Kimberley Process
The temporary withdrawal of Venezuela from the Kimberly Process
was "the intention to prepare thoroughly, and return as an organized
country and in the process of industrial diamonds," said the head of
the Ministry of People's Power for Basic Industries and Mining
(Mibam ), Rodolfo Sanz
After this year announced the suspension of Venezuela as a full
member of the organization, the National Executive is studying the
possibility of rejoining the certification mechanism of conflict
diamonds called Kimberley Process (KP) in 2010.

According to a news release from the Ministry of People's Power for
Basic Industries and Mining (Mibam), the proprietor of that entity
ministerial and president of the Venezuelan Guayana Corporation
(CVG), Rodolfo Sanz, explained that the temporary withdrawal of
Venezuela Kimberly Process was "the intention to prepare thoroughly,
and return as an organized country and in the process of industrial
diamonds."

delegation of PK, who traveled with the purpose of verifying-
personally-policies that mining in the area carried the national
government.

resources," said the head of Mibam, Rodolfo Sanz, while adding that
this exploitation of the minerals will always be verifiable and
transparent to international agencies.

the Hindu Pk Chaudhery, was received in Bolivar State-by-owner of

Hernandez, where he conducted a tour to see the mining activity in
the region.

satisfaction at the welcome given to him by the national government's
team, an international organization, while also said to have been a
very good impression on those achievements for the country's economic
development - which is making the government of President Hugo
Chávez.

He acknowledged that having control of mining activity is not an easy
task, however, made available to the government all the support
mechanisms necessary expertise and guidance in terms mining could
provide the international certification process to Venezuela.

The Kimberley Process is a certification system designed to prevent
conflict diamonds entering the market for diamonds. It was created to
try to ensure that customers were not financing war or human rights
abuses with the purchase of diamonds. Between 99% and 97% of the
market for diamonds takes place between countries that are part of
the plan.
