I've been there MOMG about 10 yrs ago...the scenery is beautiful on the island. Back then all drinking water was trucked to all bldgs/houses that had large water tanks on theirs roofs...no other water available....no sewage system and all toilet paper had to be put in trash cans (sorry very gross and it was). The largest city on the island Porlamar is about 80k in population and has a river running through it which was...well no very clean...think of the toilet paper issue. Aside from all of that the beaches are awesome. The flight from Caracas was interesting the jet was less than prestine and at the front of the cabin stood 2 army dudes with AK 47's...I guess they don't want any messing around.

Aside from all of that the best thing going at the time was when I filled up my rental car after a weeks of travel on the island and on Empty...90 cents to fill the entire tank....now wouldn't that be nice here!
