Trying to decipher all of the noise as to how this currrency mess is going to pan out...I don't think the Amero is going anywhere soon. More likely a basket of currencies to replace the dollar. The oil states are tired of having their resources devalued in dollars and countries with their currencies pegged to the dollar (i.e. Saudi Arabia) are being hammered by rising inflation as a result. I have to believe that whatever the final scenario with respect to an agreed upon global currency....gold will have a role..and soon. As far as Hugo goes...this global meltdown has been on his radar for some time. As a result, I think that the Las Cristinas motherload is much more important to him (not so much as a source of jobs and tax income...but as a way to support the oil price and stabilize his inflationary economy.) than we may think. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing for us as KRY shareholders. I've come to the conclusion that KRY is going to be a much longer term play than I originally anticipated. KRY is cash starved right now in a very tight credit environment. How many shares would have to be issued at this price for necessary financing? Alternatively...what price would we be able to negotiate with a major player looking to take us out at firesale prices? Time is definately the enemy. As we know....Venezuelans have no concept of time...certainly as it relates to business and investment. Sometimes I really wonder whether Hugo is just letting us die on the vine for his own machiavellian reasons. The fact that Las Crastinas is a world class gold deposit is in our favor. I think we can get jump started if we get the permit (without profit destroying revision clauses) before the election and gold explodes to the upside soon.
