A short on KRY at these prices seems way too dangerous.

My guess would be that a number of funds are liquidating broadly to raise cash -- mom and pop retail investors are cashing out of mutual funds at a high rate like they always do when the going gets really tough. It's happening throughout the markets. The winners will be the funds that can hang in at this point.
