Government gets ready to take the way from the austerity

The Government assumed like a fact that the public cost arrived at the limit, which forces to define national elpresupuesto of the next year under the line of the austerity, as he asserted yesterday the vice-president of the Republic, Ramon Carrizález.

In the meeting of the Central Commission of Planning, the civil servant assured that from already they work in within the framework eliminating the debits that little benefits bring, of the determination of the budgetary accounts that they will prevail for 2009.

Of the few details that offered, Carrizález spoke of the travel allowances and the expenses in official publicity like of the games that will be reduced in the short term.

“An amount of money in these activities goes away, that do not generate benefits”, it indicated.

President Hugo Chavez had already advanced Wednesday that is necessary “to look for the greater efficiency in the use of the resources, not to spend anything that is not due to spend”.

Coletazo of the crisis the national agent chief executive emphasized that the reason of a government with an austere account is justified by the present economic crisis on world-wide scale, that already has dragged to several American banks.

“We must take all the measures so that it is not going to us to affect (the crisis) and one from them, save (...), spend the necessary thing. One is not to restrain any project, no, I repeat, to advance the projects but spending only the necessary thing”, it explained Chávez.

From May of this year the national Government has impelled a campaign to reduce the level of expenses, although in first instance he was centered in the necessity to cause the saving of the population, like a mechanism to change the typical consumer scheme of the times of fat cows and thus to take with greater facility the route from the socialism.

But several situations have appeared in the way. The chapter of the world-wide crisis as soon as it begins and, before it, the expectation of a reduction of the prices of petroleum, main source of income for the country, acquires force.

Tuesday already the barrel of crude of the Venezuelan basket showed a fall 88.75 dollars, which ignites the alarm on an oil market that can be depressed in the future.

Some analysts indicated this week that with oil prices between 70 and 80 dollars by barrel the Venezuelan economy can shake.

Historical debits With the high level of public cost that registers Venezuela, that already surpasses the historical level of the 170 millardos of strong bolivars, a price under hydrocarbon is more untenable, according to indicated economic analysts.

From which the idea of the “necessary consumption” that it outlined Chávez four months ago expands towards the Government and, no longer as a form to reach the socialist ideal, but like a route of financial survival after the State.

The first signals of the imminent austerity arrived when the agent chief executive criticized the bulky list of the State.

On the matter, the ex- manager of the Central bank of Venezuela, Domingo Zavala Mace, noticed that at least 60% of the 2.064.027 people who toil in the governmental sector are of more, which generates pressure on the public cost.
