LOL Rob... I would think that CVG would let GRZ have our tailings if GRZ thinks that they have value, but I don't recall GRZ ever making such a proposal.
Actually GRZ has considered the economics of extracting copper from LC tailings and could do so at a profit providing they were not saddled with final disposal.
Everyone always qotes the "average" grade of copper in LC, but the actual grade varies from virtually zero in the approx 40% of the saprolite ore to quite economic grades in much of the hard rock. Obviously there is no value in trying to extract copper from the saprolite, but there is more ore (60%) in Las Cristinas that does contain economic copper. Placer Dome planned and was permitted to mine for copper and gold at much lower copper prices so it is technically feasible, but of course the economics change daily depending on the POG, POC and even more importantly, the cost of cyanide to extract the gold. Ignoring the copper recovery can inprove gold recovery but at a much higher use of cyanide which tends to bind with the copper in preference to the gold.
