Caracas, July 11. ABN .- A multidisciplinary Commission will investigate the illegal extraction of minerals in Bolivar state, 'activity that comes causing great damage to the whole environmental system of Venezuela'.
The vice president of the Committee on Energy and Mines, Jesus Ernesto Graterol, reported that the work of exploitation of gold and diamond in that entity are affecting watershed influxes of Caroní River.
Also denounced that after these illegal farms there are multinational companies engaged in this type of activity that has long been operating in the region.
According to the parliamentarian, a miner can not carry a team so expensive. 'We are very concerned, in addition, mercury contamination that is affecting indigenous peoples because of these illegal'.
He noted that before this situation, the Committee on Energy and Mines is summoning ministers of the area to appoint an inter-ministerial commission to be devoted to research.
The deputy Graterol estimated that the Commission should be composed of the Ministries of People's Power for Enterprises and Basic Mining, Defense, Health and Interior and Justice, as well as Vice President of the Republic, Ramon Carrizales.
'I think that we can not give you longer to the exploitation of illegal mining, but cautioned that neither can abandon the mining and quit to become a sort of vague or offender.
'I think that everyone must submit formulas to try to resolve the problem other than with' cloth hot 'but with permanent measures.
Graterol said that in this program must be included also the Ministry of People's Power for the Earth, so that mainstream crops without affecting the environment.
'It is essential to involve the Ministry of People's Power for Indigenous Peoples, in order to offer their input and can establish economic activities and to maintain their culture, he said.
Regarding the period for the formation of this Commission Multidisciplinary, Graterol reported that already have advanced far enough and who are currently calling for the Ministries of People's Power of Basic Industries and Mining, Defense and the office of Environment, to begin coordinating measures to take.
'I think that this is a social problem, environmental, ecological and sovereignty of space, air and sea we have to resolve,' said the legislator of PSUV.
