Message: Question
Given the length of his answers to your many questions I must observe that you have a good relationship with Richard.
Rob, I hope you're in a good and generous mood , with the price almost doubling the last two days. Feeling a little giddy myself so I've taken the liberty to translate the replies you received. You see, Richard has been at this for more than 16 years and he gets a little pre-disposed sometimes. Hoping you'll enjoy a little.
1)why was there a 6 day delay between the date of the meeting and the PR.
Answer:The Company wanted to make sure it had the government approval to discuss the sensitive meetings and that took sometime.Additionally, we wanted to make sure that these meetings had some momentum and were not just an initiative of an individual. Once we received the Report from the NA committee we had validation of the meeting and its substance.
Translation: We couldn't believe our luck. First Robert Fung asked me to pinch him and then I asked him to pinch me and then he asked me to pinch him again and then I .....6 days you say? Was it really that long? No wonder I'm so sore!
2) Why was Ortega not there?
ANSWER: Many business meetings inside government agencies are conducted with Vice Minister's and not necessarily the Minister who may be preoccupied with other business.
Translation: Why? Did you miss her? Frankly the 'Princess' is getting on everybody's nerves except yours, it would seem.
3) When you refer to the "goverment" you mean Chavez. MinAmb is also the goverment and so is Sanz, but Sanz could not issue these instructions.
NON ANSWER: As discussed at the AGM sometimes officials in many countries will act on their own initiatives...
Translation: I'm the government, you're the government, we're all the government. This is Venezuela for *#$* sake and worse it's the environment ministry and her Royal Majesty!
4) MinAmb stressing the urgency of the matter is funny if at was not such a crock, However, could you give a timeline at least for your part of the excersize: the submission of the details.
ANSWER: One of the slides discussed at today's AGM implied that we'd be submitting information to the Ministry in a matter of days. There's no way to predict timing for this process but the VM did indicate that they were instructed to work quickly.
Translation: "Funny crock", you say? We'll do our part in a few days then hand it over to them that work in Venezuela time. I said slowly, "Venezuela time." Even slower, like this, say, "V-E-N-E-Z-U-E-L-A--T-I-M-E-"
5) Was Sanz in the AN committee meeting?
ANSWER: No Minister Sanz did not attend the NA Hearings. It is not customary for Cabinet members to attend but they do send counsel on their behalf to articulate their position.
Tranlsation: No!
Sorry, Rob. The rest of your questions weren't numbered so if you're not going to number them, you'll just have to 'translate' them yourself.
