Yahoo! launches sites for Colombia, Chile, Peru, Venezuela

(EFE Ingles Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Los Angeles, Jun 10 (EFE).- Internet giant Yahoo! Inc. launched new company Web sites for Latin America with specific versions for Colombia, Chile, Peru and Venezuela, which now join the sites already existing for Argentina and Mexico.

"Today we are excited to be able to provide these users with locally relevant versions of Yahoo! services as well as introduce a new generation of users to the broader Yahoo! online community," Jose Rivera Font, vice president and general manager of Yahoo! Hispanic Americas, said Monday in a statement.

The new sites consist of Yahoo! Chile (www.yahoo.cl), Yahoo! Peru (www.yahoo.com.pe), Yahoo! Colombia (www.yahoo.com.co) and Yahoo! Venezuela (www.yahoo.com.ve), the company said.

Internet users in those four countries will be able to access Yahoo!'s traditional content search system, where items related to those countries will have more relevance, as well an an e-mail address with the appropriate national suffix.

Yahoo! Inc., which is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, now has seven Web sites oriented toward the countries of Argentina, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico, as well as Yahoo! Telemundo, geared toward the U.S. Hispanic community. EFE
