As part of the celebration of World Environment Day, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, approved the Law on Forests, the information was given by the minister of Popular Power for Environment, Yubirí Ortega.
In this regard, minister Ortega stressed that with this approval finally is being sincere what should be done about the preserving of the environment in Venezuela within the legal framework.
He indicated that President Chavez also approved the Plan of management and regulation of use of the Ticoporo Reserve, which was an aspiration of the community for over nine years, this was the largest forest reserve in Venezuela and through the authorization of this plant, will be reforested with the aid of the citizenship.
Also, the Minister for Environment said that, by request of the communities in Paraguana, Falcon state, were decreed as a Wildlife Sanctuary the Caves of Paraguana, in where inhabit a particular species of bats.
