=DJ UBS Highlights Possible Additions To S&P/TSX Composite

TORONTO (Dow Jones)--UBS Securities Canada Inc. strategist Garry Cooper suggested four "higher probability" additions to the S&P/TSX Composite Index following S&P's quarterly review of the index.

In a report, Cooper said he expects S&P to announce the review's results on or about June 13, with changes becoming effective after the close on June 20.

Cooper's picks for likely inclusion are Iteration Energy Ltd. (ITX.T), Birchcliff Energy Ltd. (BIR.T), Bankers Petroleum Ltd. (BNK.T) and Crew Energy Inc. (CR.T). All four are Calgary-based oil and gas companies.

Cooper had cited Birchliff and Crew as possible additions to the index three months ago, in his last quarterly index review report.

Wednesday, Cooper identified six stocks that appear vulnerable to deletion this time around. They are Breakwater Resources Ltd. (BWR.T), Crystallex International Corp. (KRY), Allen-Vanguard Corp. (VRS.T), Ballard Power Systems Inc. (BLDP), Aastra Technologies Ltd. (AAH.T) and Canwest Global Communications Corp. (CGS.T).

Cooper had identified Ballard and Aastra as possible candidates for deletion in his previous report.

Cooper doesn't own any of the stocks mentioned in the report.
