Vinvec...the cost\benefit (environment\coal) in an oil based economy is totally different than what we're looking at with gold. Many very good (spelled strategic) reasons why gold should be a go even if it has negative environmental ramifications. If you got mucho oil....there is little upside to harming the environment to dig up coal (dirty burning, relatively low BTU content, expensive to ship, etc.).
