JC - I don't think this would be a planted story, from outside the VZ govt. That would have motivated them to respoind immediately or they would look weak.

Whether it was Hugo or a pissed off Director making a statement, that would explain the no repsonse. They would either want to let KRY/GRZ stew a while and come begging for a reduced deal, or they would want to downplay the notion that there might be any dissent in the body politic. Denying the Director's decree quickly would make them look like they have internal problems.

I still think this was orchestrated from the top and the choice of who released it gives them an "out" if Hugo/Sanz want to be good international citizens and offer KRY/GRZ another chance. I doubt we will find out for some time what is the truth.
