Venezuelan Government opened in December Cerro Azul cement factory as part of cooperation between Iran and Venezuela As part of the development cooperation between the governments of Iran and Venezuela in the field of mining, by December this year is expected to launch its first phase of the cement plant Cerro Azul, briefed the minister for People's Power Basic Industries and Mining, Rodolfo Sanz.
"The second phase will be ready by the year 2009, incorporating material for the operation of a quarry which is next to the plant and this will achieve a production capacity of 1 million tons of cement a year," said the minister.
During a speech made in the framework of the meeting held since MeliĆ” Caracas, between delegations of the Islamic country and Venezuela to discuss development projects established between the leaders of both countries, the minister stressed Sanz in the process of putting 127 of the projects and also the stage of negotiation and review of 16 others.
Sanz said that, as part of these agreements are being made geological studies that will enable a rational exploitation of the mineral resources in Venezuela.
"This study allows to feed the database that we have about our gold reserves material, crucial for the development of accurate and rational exploitation of these minerals," added Sanz
Likewise, the holder of the portfolio of Basic Industries and Mining stressed the importance of these agreements to establish "as new poles of development that allow break with the hegemony that sought to impose."
