Crystallex International Corporation (TSX: KRY) (Amex: KRY) provided their shareholders the update of the accomplishments and progress that have obtained at the Las Cristinas gold project, located in the southeastern state of Bolivar in Venezuela.

Mr. Gordon Thompson, president and CEO of Crystallex commented, "During 2007, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Venezuela (MinAmb) formally notified our partner Corporación Venezolana de Guayana (CVG), which all requirements for issuance environmental permit for Las Cristinas had been met. "

It should be remembered that the MinAmb approved the Environmental Impact Study (EIS) of the Las Cristinas gold project, and requested the CVG faithful implementation of a bond and the payment of certain environmental taxes. Mr. Thompson confirmed this information, adding: "The communiqué that the MinAmb sent him to CVG read: The environmental permit will be delivered after payment of taxes and the surrender of the bond faithful compliance. Crystallex complied with all the demands both with the bond faithful compliance with the payment of taxes required.

So far no impediment has been elevated to government representatives. In fact, themselves-recently-confirmed that we are on track to obtain the final permit, said the president and CEO of Crystallex.

Mibam

This year Rodolfo Sanz was appointed Minister of Basic Industries and Mining (Mibam) and president of CVG, and in both roles, has been directly involved in the Las Cristinas gold project.

Crystallex has met with the minister Sanz and hoped that it would soon visit Las Cristinas.

Ambassador of Canada

Also, representatives of Crystallex also met with sr. Perry Calderwood, Canadian Ambassador to Venezuela, and gave him all information related to the Las Cristinas project. The ambassador Calderwood has been diligent in following up on all the Canadian companies that invest in Venezuela.

After a visit to Bolivar state, the ambassador said that Calderwood is actively working to achieve the greatest possible progress in the interests Canadians invested in Venezuela (including mining).

Mr. Thompson concluded that "the hearings in the National Assembly and subsequent reports, correspondence MinAmb and numerous meetings with representatives of the government continue to confirm our expectation that the final permit will be approved, it will enable us to start the construction phase with the resulting benefits for neighboring communities in the area.
