Venezuelan Government appointed Minister of Basic Industries and Mining as the new president of a major state conglomerate that blends aluminum companies, electricity , gold, iron, telecommunications and forestry.

The appointment of Rodolfo Sánz as head of the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana (CVG) was formalized in the Official Gazette circulated on Thursday, which states that "can only receive remuneration for one of the destinations public played."

Sanz, who will replace Daniel Machado at the forefront of CVG, was appointed holder for Basic Industries and Mining last January, when Chavez made changes in his ministerial train after electoral defeat in December.

Before he served as deputy minister for Latin America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Basic Industries and Mining is the governing body of the CVG and its core businesses, among which are reducing Alcasa and Venalum aluminum; Electrificacion del Caroní (Edelca), which provides almost 70 percent of the national production of electricity ; producer Carbonorca anodes and exploitative iron Ferrominera.
