Camiven: 2007 Au output seen at 482,261oz - Venezuela

Venezuela's mining chamber Camiven estimates that the country's gold production in 2007 reached 15Mg (482,261oz), Camiven president Gilberto Sánchez told BNamericas.State miner Minerven, a subsidiary of state heavy industry holding company CVG, is the country's primary gold producer and for 2007 reported sales of US$88.2mn.
Meanwhile, Sánchez indicated that 2007 bauxite production totaled 5.3Mt, alumina 1.7Mt and ferronickel 16,500t. Overall output of metallic minerals in 2007 will ring in 12-14% lower than that achieved in 2006, he added.
"However, non-metallic and industrial minerals saw a 10-12% recovery, but still have not reached average production levels of previous years," he said without providing further figures.
