Venezuela delegation to visit Guyana over dredgers destroyed at gold mine

Prensa Latina: A delegation from Venezuela will visit Guyana next week to discuss Guyana's allegation that Venezuelan soldiers destroyed two dredgers at a gold mine two weeks ago, Foreign Minister Rudy Insanally informed.

 Caracas said the action was against illegal gold miners and was part of a program to strengthen security on Venezuelan borders.

• The Venezuelan delegation will bring a report of the investigation into the incident, Insanally said.

Except for frequent statements from the opposition, the incident has been kept low profile by both governments and the Venezuelan government sent a shipload of gasoline to Guyana to help it avoid a fuel crisis.
