You are far more likely to see a story in print or in the media disparaging gold as an investment, and it is interesting to watch certain TV commentators here in the US delight in bad mouthing it. Even today with the price of Au going higher, they would rather not write or even discuss it;they try to ignore it as much as possible. Life is interesting!
You are absolutely right Artie and you do see it to a lesser extent up in Canada, however with gold comprising a big part of the TSX it is a lot harder to ignore. I like to go the You Tube periodically to catch up on the latest comments from Peter Schiff, Max Keiser and more noteably, Jim Rogers who maintains a higher degree of credibility than the former. It never ceases to amaze me when some door knob commentator tries to diss the credibility of these very experienced men from the investment community. I liken the behavior to the political brilliance of the screen actors guild that seem to think the ability to memorize a script or strip naked and screw every director and old boy in Hollywood as a testiment to their knowledge and insight lol. Most Americans and Canadians will spend their time watching reality TV, planning their next vacation or in extreme cases struggleing to keep up with the rapidly rising prices of food and energy. No time in the day to catch up or do some DD and figure out what the Heck is really going on here. Find a villain (bankers) and lay the blame there instead of on themselves and our political leaders will survive quit nicely. I wonder how many of the politically elite have some money or assetts parked outside of the US.
The smart people made millions during the depression as they bought up hugely discounted assetts and IMHO the elite in control now don't want anyone getting rich, they want all the cash in the system devalued to nothing stealthily so the true earners and savers do not get the drift as to what is hitting them until it is too late. There's my rant for the day. Rookie
