However, I've also read that many institutions do not buy stocks under $5. So policies must vary from one place to the next.

For example, I catch Market Call Tonight on BNN sometimes. There's this older analyst who offers opinions on small and micro-caps. He's always speaking highly of Scorpio Mining, which was trading at 50 cents during the summer and is now sitting at $1.05.

So unless the firm he's working for is actually trading these penny stocks, what gain would there be of having him on the show? Just to have the firm's name mentioned several times, free advertising, even if they hold no position?
