The connection between ML and NCU is Pala Investments. Pala Investments owns both ML and NCU. What appears to have happened is that Pala wanted out of ML and used their power at NCU to force NCU into buying their ML shares. For this reason I sold the last of my NCU shares yesterday at 3.65.
