The difference between me posting that article and what you have written is that while the article spells out the severity of the American debt crisis and makes the comparison to the downfall of the Ottoman empire, it also points out that interest payments on U.S. debt currently stands at 15 per cent of tax revenue.

Sure, that's troubling. However, unlike you, I don't believe the sky is falling. The Americans have been through debt crises before. I think they'll get a handle on things before we have to resort to fending for ourselves, Mad Max style.

If you think the worst is going to happen, then maybe climate change will get you first. There's always something to fear, but I won't let fear control me.
