CUU own 25% Schaft Creek: proven/probable min. reserves/940.8m tonnes = 0.27% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, 0.018% moly and 1.72 g/t silver containing: 5.6b lbs copper, 5.8m ounces gold, 363.5m lbs moly and 51.7m ounces silver; (Recoverable CuEq 0.46%)
When the NDP took power 20 years ago they did not campaign on crushing mining in BC. They never said they'ed destroy the forest industry and obliterate gas and oil. In fact, none of the seriously damaging actions the under took were ever on their campaign promise list. In short, they lied through their teeth.
They were not the first to do this. We have 50 years of scandal, theft and mis-appropriations to the tunes of multiple billions. The amount is staggering. If you add in what went on in the gas and mining the damages are trulely astounding.
Did the people do anything about it? NOPE!!!
People only really started paying attention in the Socred days. That's when the corruption became "in your face". The politicians no longer cared what happened. they were pretty sure they would not go to jail and in fact, didn't because the AG was dirty and still is. But eventually someone got some dirt on the AG too so while that changed the game and brought in the possibility of arrests they still knew that the time would be well worth the money.
Enter the NDP. Deep in the pockets of the mob and the mob run unions. Sure enough the Primier gets caught in a deck building scandal with a mobster who needed a casino licence. Then came the accusations of money laundering etc...
So here's a reality check for those who say it's a different time - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:British_Columbia_political_scandals
These are just the main ones and not all of those are listed here.
There are hundreds of minor ones reaching right down to the muni level where they number over a thousand. And you thought BC was a democracy. LOL
Now come the important question: Why did the people put up with 50 years of this and why do they continue to allow it? My answer is simple. They like it. They like being stolen from and lied to. Got a better answer?
So when it comes to destroying billions in mining that's nothing. The NDP plan to destry 40 billion in their first year. Don't believe me? Ask them and the other parties for opinions on what each other will do. The NDP are not telling the truth! They plan sweeping changes to the exploration and development of resources. They are angry that the conservatives are taking steps to simplify development.
If a mine does not get it's permits in place before the NDP win they are screwed. It will take a decade to recover.
What oldfox was saying on the main board is the truth. I saw a lot of people get wiped out. Small business got crushed and you couldn't buy a job in this province. Welfare soared and housing stayed flat. No growth what so ever. The statement that we were one of the worst place on the planet to mine in are actually correct. Companies had billions invested and were basically buggered. They couldn't get sunk costs out and the only ones who made headway were bribing the officials and making payments to the mafia.
So again, you thought this was a democracy? LOL. Look at the criminals currently in power. What does this tell you about BC politics?
