I did send a few emails to prominent folks that have anything to do with Biden's push to secure more minerals. I often do that after a few drinks. I also sent a similiar letter to the Whitehouse critisizing the list of mines Canada gave to them. And I also let them know that three of their copper deposits in Arizona may take an enormous amount of time to produce metal. I have not received a response fom anyone.:)
Hello Anita Anand, Minister of Defence.
As you are aware, the United States has invoked their Defence Production Act. This was done for security reasons, making sure there are enough minerals available in North America for our society and militaries to function properly. Some overseas nations are stockpiling, which could lead us short.
Canada has provided the US with a list of mines and potential mines that could help bolster our mineral inventory.
I am wondering how reliable that list is. I know about one large deposit on that list. Schaft Creek has huge potential but is operated by a mining company that has shown little interest in mining it. They have been, instead, actively developing deposits in other countries. As of now, Teck Resources has a 75% interest in Schaft Creek and Copper Fox Metals has the remaining.
If you are hoping those minerals will be available soon, don't hold your breath. Watching these two develop the resource is like watching the Three Stooges do ballet. Progress was good until Teck took over. That was over a decade ago. Not much has been accomplished in those years. Although recently Teck has picked up some speed, but it still took them two years to drill 5000 feet.
They completed that drill last summer and have only recently figured out half the results.
If this deposit is important to the country, you may consider having Teck removed from this project and hand it over to a miner that is a bit more enthused about developing this deposit.
