One gracefully declined to comment explaining that he wasn’t qualified to do so, but he passed my message on to his colleague who, along with the other respondent, pretty much opined that nothing much would change and that any joint ventures would simply be absorbed into the new merged company, should a merger take place. I’m not taking it any further; I think that’s probably true of Copper Fox which doesn’t have the heft to influence things. I’m not so sure about Newmont who is big enough not to be bossed around and who might say “hang on just a minute, our arrangement was with Teck, not Glencore”. We’ll see; maybe Newmont would be as happy or even happier with such an event, who knows?
