I’m writing with regard to the proposed merger between Glencore and Teck. As you’re probably aware, Teck has two joint ventures in copper: one, Galore Creek, with major Newmont and the other, Schaft Creek, with junior explorer Copper Fox. In articles to date I’ve seen no mention of how either of these ventures might figure into any potential arrangement between Glencore and Teck. I’d be interested to see if this is a concern which you think is worth pursuing in a future article.
Full disclosure: as a retail investor owning shares in both Teck and Copper Fox I do have a vested interest in this matter, however it turns out, so I’m looking for any source which might provide guidance. Copper Fox management has remained mum to date.
