As of 2011 CUU had earned the 70 % direct interest by spending $ 15 million as per the Salazar contract. They could earn the remaining 23.4 % indirect interest( Liard carried interest) by completing and delivering a BFS. Teck always had 3 back-in Right options up to 75% with cost conditions attached. Instead of executing the terms of the Salazar contract they agreed to a JV contract with the same result as if the 75 % back-in under Salazar was exercised.
