Message: Stewart port facilities.

There was an article in the Sat. Times colonist about a co., Stewart port world, that has refurbished an old dock and turned it into a modern deep sea wharf. it's located across the harbour from Stewart bulk terminals, where we have reserved space, and intends to compete for "break bulk cargoes". that is material that is not easily transported in containers.

The existing facilities now handle concentrate from the Huckleberry and the Red Chris copper mines. Ted Pickell, the CEO of the new wharf said, " some of the new mines proposed for the region would produce more than a million tons per year of concentrates" and there is room for both facilities. they're willing to invest 70 million for cranes and storage etc. as this is Canada's northernmost deep water port.

It's interesting as it seems to fit nicely with the BC government's stated view, I think last year, that there are a lot, 8 - 10, new mines on the drawing board for that area.

Maybe another small piece of the puzzle.....chunky
