I think you are referencing old data. The C1 cash costs for early 2015 were $1.77 per pound, and are expected to be between $1.65 to $1.95 for 2015. The C3 cash costs are anticipated to be between $2.00 and $2.30 a pound for 2015.
(The mine is located near Antofogasta. I wonder if that's why the rumour mill started earlier in the year that Teck was looking at a merger with Antofogasta the company?)
Currently there is a mine life of 12 years and it brings in about $200M per year in net cash flow (with copper at $3 per lb.) There is a possibility of extending the mine life but it would take some investment. I think there is some lower grade material down deeper.
There is an estimate of value between US$1.3B and US$2B. Let's hope someone else buys it for a large amount of money.
