IMO the only reason the current people in power would want something like this to happen is that they believe strongly they would win right then and the events left in the remainder of the term can cause opinions to sway and lose their position.

So to me an early election is better as they are confident to win and retain their position. Unless I have missunderstood the current scenario, but as I understand it we want the party currently leading BC to stay in charge as they are much more pro-mining than the oppositions.
