I'm now a contractor for Neilson-EBC. I worked in La Romaine3 for them and now I'm at Big Silver Creek in B-C. They happened to be the ones who went in Galore Creek to do all the servey and to start the tunnel. The manager of EBC today told me that the road is probably complete by now. The road was supposed to be followed by all the Penstock along the way to provide the mine for Diesel. (Penstock is still sleeping there) They did started the tunnel already back then.. Not even a few hundreds meters on a avalanche zone, when they finaly got stopped by Teck. The tunnel was supposed to be around 13-14 Km long. He told me that they needed 2 tunnels for the project. They were on site for for about 10 months... they heard that Teck and BG had spend over 800 millions in a VERY short timeline.. the cost prior to production was then to be over 2G of infrastructures and stuffs.(and probably more by now) That's when they decided that they had to stop the project. Now all Jumbos Axeras, Rock Trucks, excavators etc... are apparently all sleeping on Sites still... (I just thought of it now but I should of asked if the gear was owned by Teck or Neilson,EBC) << Now from my analyse..>> I would say that the equipment are owned by Teck. as I'm currently in a Hydro-electricity project digging tunnels with new Jumbos Axeras right now... and switching in Upper Lillooet in the next 2 weeks for an other 2 tunnels.. That being said...... Teck would technicaly have alot of gears sleeping at Galore and ready to move right next to Shaft Creek when ever the "GO" is done. --OR-- The manager told me that a Chinese company bought a infrastructure Contractor's company in British-Columbia.... and he heard that chinese would now be the one to complete the tunnel and the rest IF/once the (GO) is done. Chinese comoany would then be cheaper to complete the project. Happy Sunday to all! Back to work now!
