Some have suggested that SC may never become a mine and I agree that one should always consider this as a possibility. When I raise that question to myself I recall that I read that Teck's average cost to produce a pound of copper was $1.65 and that the FS said that a pound of copper could be produced for $1.13 at SC....well below Teck's average. Add to that fact that the optimization studies will probably raise the status of the "waste rock" to mineable rock and that is bound to get the average cost even lower ( ie better).....sounds to me that SC could be a very profitable mine and bringing the mine into production could be a good business decision.
