I don't know that there is an economic value in having Teck arrange the financing. It just increases our ability to sell the project to non-miners—like investment funds. It makes it more attractive to a whole range of different people who don't want to be involved in actually mining or taking the risk with financing.
That's an interesting thought Prospekt. I wonder if Elmer has thought about contacting the major pension funds in Canada like, CPP, OMERS, CASSIE, or teachers. all are searching for ways to increase return in these times of low interest rates.
They've been going further up the risk scale by buying into toll roads, port facilities, neuclear electrical generation, etc because they can't stay solvent using government bonds.
I think that would be Teck's worst nightmare. you cant play games with billion dollar corps.
I think Teck should hurry up and buy us out and pick their own partners........chunky
