CUU own 25% Schaft Creek: proven/probable min. reserves/940.8m tonnes = 0.27% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, 0.018% moly and 1.72 g/t silver containing: 5.6b lbs copper, 5.8m ounces gold, 363.5m lbs moly and 51.7m ounces silver; (Recoverable CuEq 0.46%)
The smart investors know the virtue of patience and don't lose sight of the reason they became investors here.
Some have left because producing copper at a negative value is no longer a reality. The promise of that was one of the reasons they invested here.
Some have given up because the BFS -- the document that Elmer reportedly said would take as long as it takes because he only had one shot at it and it had to be bulletproof -- was a real letdown and drove our share price lower still.
Some have sold because they believed the Salazar agreement gave CUU management plenty of leverage. Remember all those comments in the past about CUU being in the driver's seat, about how CUU being the little fish would be dictating terms to Teck, the big fish? It was too good to be true...
I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons people have flown the white flag. This is not the same investment it was in 2009. That doesn't mean there isn't value in it, just that a lot has changed, and some of it is negative.
In any event, those who hold the longest, and endure the most pain, will win.
This is a motherhood statement, canadastockguy, and you know it. This philosophy in some stocks will actually result in the loss of everything. Anyone else here ever invested in a penny stock that you were sure was going to be a 5 or 10 bagger but it keep dropping. Maybe you averaged down. In the end, it went belly up. It's happened to me.
Now, I don't believe for a second that will occur with Copper Fox. But there is no assurance from anyone that we'll ever see more than $2/share again. For those whose average sits above $2, are they really winning? What if the buyout doesn't come until late in 2015? There's no better investment to be found between now and then where investors could recoup some of their losses?
Some investors here are retired or near retired. Some bought CUU with expectations of a payoff within a year. Some got squeezed and had to sell shares to meet other financial obligations. There were a lot of hopes dashed with the downturn in the macro picture/drop in metals prices combined with the way management has handled events.
I added in the 60's after the dividend, in the 50's, and hope to buy in the 40's.
I think you will be rewarded for these purchases. Unfortunately not everyone here has the firepower to keep adding. There are fellow investors here who are up to their eyeballs in CUU shares and don't have the resources to buy any more. They're underwater and come here to vent about their predicament. I sympathize with them and have patience for their complaints because I have been forced to have all the patience in the world for the CUU story to play out.
Good luck to all.
