I decided to contact Merit today and was told that a peer review can take anywhere from 1 week for a "high level" to 3-4 weeks for a more detailed review.

Ok, I can live with that. End of Oct more likely then for it to be completed. If ES wants an airtight BFS most likely he will go for a detailed review imo. So sit back, relax and let them do their work.
