To be fair to Brent Cook, I think he has a certain set of guidelines/rules-of-thumb when it comes to investing and avoiding lower grade operations is just one of them. Large low grade deposits are tricky economically and by categorically brushing them aside he hopes to increase his chances of betting on a successful mine by going with the high grade stuff.
In this case I think he has thrown the baby out with the bath water but his strategy seems sound overall. Putting his comments out publicly doesn't leave him too much room for exceptions and one-offs as he would look contradictory to his guidelines and confuse his followers.
We brought up a lot of examples of where he went wrong on his recommendations. Anyone have any examples of where he got it right?
