When you challenge someone's "facts", can you prove your own?

The "margin call" was a theory that I believe Vette started and both he and others quickly turned it into "fact" by repeating it. To my knowledge, nobody has proof that is what happened - it is just a mass assumption.

If I am wrong, I will gladly retract this statement, but don't spread "facts".
