BC Hydro has reached an impact-benefit agreement with the Gitanyow First Nation in relation to the Northwest Transmission Line project.
A signing ceremony was held last week in Vancouver.
The company says the deal will provide the Gitanyow with employment, contracting and other economic development opportunities during construction of the line.
The Gitanyow had previously threatened to block construction, accusing Hydro of disregarding their rights and way of life.
Similar impact-benefit agreements have been signed with several other First Nations, including the Tahltan, Nisga'a, Kitselas and Metlakatla.
