Shorts covering frequently triggers SP increase..Especially during a squeeze..In order for a short to cover someone has to sell. Sometimes they have to allow the SP to increase in order to get a buyer.Look at CLL for instance. At $3.04 there are many people with a very profitable short position who're looking to cash in. They need a seller. However most shareholders are currently at a loss right now and won't sell.. BUT there are many people who loaded up on CLL at SP as low as $2.53 within the last few weeks who are currently in a profit position that are looking to also take their profits out.
IN MY OPPINION That's what happened yesterday,,extremely high volume minimal price range..You had a massive profit taking day as shares traded hands between those seeking a profit from their recent purchase and those in the short position taking profits.
OVERALL yesterday made many a trader richer.
