Nothing rotten going on, in fact it's rather obvious what happened. Those that left wanted to sell CLL and DG and the board disagreed. Simple as that. We will never know the details of the offer so all we can do is speculate. The 3 that left may have been pushing for the sale because they were offered good positions with the buyer and a good profit on their shares in CLL. The anti - Gussella crowd will say that he was against the sale because he wasn't offered a position. The list of hypotheticals are endless. My guess is that the offer was so low that the board said A BIG FU.
The JV was agreed to at a time when CLL was in trouble due to the world market conditions. These market conditions have improved ..IMHO it was smart to refuse the offer and delay the JV process. GUSELLA never said they still aren't looking for a partner, they said they putting it on hold until mid Feb..AGAIN SMART.. these should be coming up between now and then 1- Strong 4th Quarter 2- expansion approval 3- if I'm not mistaken updated proven reserves etc.
IN SHORT, times have changed and a decision was made not to sell off the company at fire sale prices. The departing management had a different opinion so out the door they go. IMHO the company is still in play for either a buy out or JV. The recent events were a signal that we're now able to negotiate with a higher hand. This will make sure that a FAIR price for a buy out will occur and better JV terms can be had.
As far as DG assuming all positions. Should he have just left them open? IMO it was a signal that the company still has leadership..NOW how quickly he replaces those people will say much..He did say interviews were taking place.
