I can fully relate to you opinion about causes and Stock Market performance for the next couple of years.
It may all come to picking the good growth stocks with some dividends and small debt to cash flow ratio to stay ahead of the game. Indexes will be stuck in the trading range until the process of deleveraging of the national and individual debt will stabilized.
In regards to CLL I have to make clear that the accounting procedure they use are totally legitimate and fair. It is up to the investors to see the big picture (so call 'clean earnings' or earnings from the operation).
People who read only the headlines from the report may get the distorted picture of the company. Most of the institutional investors got it right. They sold 120 million shares and are not on the rush to buy them back.
