Message: $89 Oil Today, Very Good News for CLL

zemaniak - you stated: "Given today's jump in oil, CLL's weakness is concerning. is world markets/debt issues hurting this stock? I was expecting at least a bit of a + jump today

It is trading in a very tight range with little activity. Could go either way, and move could/will be brisk when it does. Oil going up more might help, as for good news from Europe."

The bottom line is that there is very little interest among retails or investment funds in CLL today as long term investors all know because Connacher is basically in the dog house because it has failed to meet it's production guidance over a number of quarters. There will continue to be little interest until 1) Connacher increases production; or 2) a joint venture agreement is reached which is favourable to Connacher shareholders; or 3) management announces that it is selling the company in order to maximize shareholder value, in my humble opinion.

Long term shareholders on this bulletin board will remember that a couple of years ago Connacher management announced that they would no longer issue guidance on Connacher's production numbers because they had consistently failed to meet guidance on production numbers and the market punished them for it. So they said no more guidance.... The problem was they didn't stick to this rule and continued to give guidance and failed to meet it, so management has no credibility with the market until their actions increase production. This is my interpretation of why the share price languishes and continues to trade in a narrow range. Add to this the fact that analysts Eric Nuttal and Bill Harris view CLL shares as highly risky due to debt and it's being leveraged to oil. These are my thoughts.

Cheers; Scott
