If I'm not mistaken Royalties are paid as a percentage of oil price..The higher the price of oil the higher the royalty..So as bitumen falls so does the royalty which increases netback..

What's the matter got a little greedy shorting and were holding for a below .235 sp and decided to cash out while the getting was good.
