Thank you for putting up the pertinent information from the SEC website. These are the specfic changes that I was referring to which will come into effect on Jan 1, 2010. New extraction technologies such as oil sands production technologies ..ie..both mining and SAGD will now be observed along with the existing convention methods of extracting oil and gas and the SEC will permit oilsands companies to book their P2 and P3 reserves in the USA which they currently cannot include in their total reserves. Currently my understanding is that they can only book their P1 reserves, whereas compared to conventional oil and gas companies they can currently book their P1, P2 and P3 reserves as their total reserves. This is my understanding of the effect that these regulations will have on oil sands companies as of Jan 1, 2010 in the USA on the US exchanges. This means that US investors will place a greater valuation on the shares of Canadian oil sands companies after these reforms take place, which will lead to increased demand for the shares and an ensuing rise in prices due to limited share supply and increased demand.
