You're missing the point..The United States was founded on the idea of individual rights and freedoms NOT collectivism and the power of the State. The term Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness comes to mind. America became the most powerful nation on earth not through collectivist state controls but by the power of the individual striving to succeed..Americans loath Socialism as it goes against the American free spirit.. Take gun control, Europeans see guns as a threat to public safety, when in reality they only threaten government power. Americans see gun ownership as a right to defend themselves not only against criminals, but from oppressive governments. Americans are right on this issue, history has show that the most brutal regimes disarmed their citizens, Put in a nutshell, It's not Socialism the Americans are afraid of, it's the loss of individual rights and freedoms that Socialism imposes on the masses.
