2violins;
I always enjoy reading your postings. This was a valuable contribution to read by Jeff Rubin. I just finished reading The Long Emergency surviving the End of Oil, Climate Change, and Other Converging Catastrophes of the Twenty-First Century by James Howard Kunstler, 2006 by Grove Press, New York, and his thesis is the same as Jeff Rubin’s ..ie.. the only way that we can survive the decline and coming price of oil is to end globalization and shift to a local economy. In addition he explains how North America got into our present mess at the end of WWII by building the interstate highway system across the USA at the end of the war as a make work project to fight off the recession at the end of the war by creating a lot of jobs. The interstate highways led to a suburban North American lifestyle which sprung up and put us in the current mess that we are in. I highly recommend reading this book.
