BNN has had a series of programs and interviews running each day this week on the oilsands hosted by Brett Harris called 'Shifting Sands'. You can listen to it on BNN at your leisure. It was on the daily 'Commodities' program.

The following episode is hosted by Amanda Laing and she interviews Byron Lutes the President of Southern Pacific Resource. I found it interesting as this company is building a SAGD project and it is facing the same issues that Connacher has faced and is currently facing. Byron Lutes also talks about why his company selected SAGD and other ways to enhance SAGD production such as ESP's and a new proposal called wedge wells which Encana has proven up with a third horizontal well place between for example Connacher's two existing wells in a well pair in order to extract an extra 7-10% of the oil that the steaming well has already produced. It is a short interesting 5 minute program. It shows that there are other SAGD companies applying for environmental approval to the ERCB at the same time Connacher is as well as trying to raise capital from the market in the same enviroment as Connacher.
