I 'm on the same thought like Brian .A gradual upwards trend and not one we have seen in 2008.Though I also believe oil is a resource in depleting the peak oil idea is not so nearby as many think.

You admit that the spike was just an trading action and not a demand.In fact there was no shortage for oil.They made us believe it was.Have you heard recent months about problems in Iran,Nigeria ,Chavez etc..At once it doesn't matter anymore but before when some minor news came out that was all a reason to drive the price up.

I'm in stocks since a long time and have read so many artickles all around .I do not take much attention to this kind of items.Sure there wil be a time oil move upwqards but like some has written here and also myself the troubles caused by the crisis is not a small one.There is to much money just simply blow away and to get rich as it was before will not be so easy.

If oil would spike due to Opec actions on output then we will face again another crisis.Be sure all countries have put huge amount of money on the table to avoid a further downturn but be sure they wil claim it back later on by taxes or other things.

Most of us are over 50 and I guess when oil wil peak same amount like it was before we will mostly be siting in a retirement home memorising about the good old stock market days years ago.

CLL will probably survive but it will take far more time then we had in mind to achieve a nice bonus.We must face the facts that if oil goes up to fast it will kill the economy and that one is in very bad shape.So management must take the right action and let's hope they can make a good deal for the financing .
