Thank you for posting the referenced documentary. Though I must admit it was, as a US citizen, painful to watch. As a US citizen, I well remember sitting here trying to understand what was going on that mere six month ago. (It seems like it happened so much longer ago than that.)

There are certain lessons that need to be never forgotten. Yet it seems to be the nature of human beings, that we as we become further removed from a situation, we become less familiar with the horror of the memory. At this point in time it remains unclear yet whether we will escape the travails of six months ago without a true degradation of the US economic system. At this point in time, though some have changed their fiscal behaviors, still some have not. Perhaps the saying that " every now and then a little creative destruction is a good thing"is true. The problem? The "creative destruction falls on those who have caused the problem, those who have contributed to the problem, and those who behaved responsibly equally.

At the very least, even if financial and fiscal Armageddon is avoided, it will be inordinately expensive to the US financial system and ergo, ultimately to every citizen of the US. There is no comfort to be garnered from the reality that some other nations also acted irresponsibly in their fiscal behavior.

How dearly we pay for our arrogances!
